A l’échelle européenne, la coordination de l’enquête SHARE est assurée par l'équipe du Professeur Axel Börsch-Supan du Munich Centre for Economics of Aging (MEA) du Max Planck Institut (Allemagne). Ensemble ils définissent la méthodologie générale de travail, ainsi que le rythme d’avancement de sorte à ce que l’enquête soit réalisée selon les mêmes modalités dans tous les pays participants.
